DVD movie review - MR. BROOKS

~~~
All my DVD Movie Reviews are positive. That's because I only review movies I have enjoyed watching on DVD.
Earl Brooks just left his dinner party where he was named Man of the Year by the Portland, Oregon Chamber of Commerce. After all he is a respected family man of the community. Later that night he makes a vow to Marshall that tonight he will murder his last two people. Quite a pronouncement after his killing of "a lotta people in a lotta different ways".
Detective Atwood pursues him by his police label, the fingerprint killer. That gets her the label of an accomplice. If you'd like to know who plays all these characters, such as Kevin Costner and Demi Moore, and a few more interesting insights to this film, click here.
Mr. Smith wants to help. Mr. Brooks, the serial killer, would rather he not do do. The two of them (three of them?) drive around looking for someone to kill. Mr. Brooks suggests, " We drive around until we see someone we think we might like killing".
An interesting side-note is that although the entire story is set in Portland, Oregon, only about one day of exteriors were shot in Portland. The rest were shot in Shreveport, Louisiana. That's a whole 'nother story. A few more notes on the shooting: The lighting here is extraordinarily expert. As viewers we tend to watch a movie enjoying the scenery without thinking about the great amount of effort that is placed in the lighting of the shots. Here a beautiful job is done without question. Watch for a lot of mirror, reflections and great back lighting. This includes those great shots inside the car with Mr. Brooks and Marshall in the rain.
The pursuit is of course an adventure not up to a few words in a short review such as this. It's brought to a conclusion of incredible proportion. The closing scenes of this 2007 movie will knock you out of your chair, then slowly settle you back down into your recliner, leaving you with wonder, thought, and bewilderment..
Let me know if I'm wrong about that. And by the way, were there two or three of them driving around looking for someone to kill?
