All my DVD Movie Reviews are positive. That's because I only review movies I have enjoyed watching on DVD.
Alex sells stuff (mail order) on the Internet. He works part-time for his father, "killing people". Alex is William H. Macy and his father is Donald Sutherland. A better team of actors would be hard to find. The story is written by Henry Bromell, who also directed this 2001 film. Mr. Bromell has written, directed, or executive produced such TV greats as Northern Exposure, Carnivale and Brotherhood, to name a few.

Alex gets tired of his part-time job and begins seeing a shrink played by John Ritter. Betcha don't recognize John here. His midlife becomes more complicated when he tells his shrink about his job and then meets his new found 23-year-old girlfriend in the shrink's waiting room. That's not a good thing because Alex has a wife and son at home and his troubles are mounting. When we find out who Alex's new assassination target is, things become much more complex and Alex soon becomes completely fed up with his father and the family business.
If twists, turns, and coincidentals are part of your favorite plots, you will be quite pleased to have discovered this one. William H. Macy characters are usually down in their luck and Alex is a perfect example. Every time I see him in something new, I think it's the greatest role he's ever played. Let me know if you agree. Let me know if you disagree. Thanks.
